(Meet I-Squad!)
First, an Update:
We are OFFICIALLY LAUNCHING INTERNATIONALLY in January!!!!!
I will be leaving January 8 for Launch (a few more days of training) down in Georgia, and then we leave on our adventure! Adventures in Missions is still working on all the details, so I am eagerly awaiting an email with where we are going.
Trusting in Lord in all the waiting with all the changes.
Second, Training Camp:
Training camp was HARD!
I won’t get into all the details for anyone reading that might go on the World Race. I don’t want to ruin the surprise. It was a physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually demanding week. I was sore, sweaty, tired, and decaffeinated.
….
However……..
….
Training camp was even more AMAZING!
I met my squad, my team, and my leaders who are all INCREDIBLE. They are all so ENCOURAGING and their PASSION for the Lord is definitely contagious. I sat through so many ENLIGHTENING sessions about the gospel, missions, and the adventure I will soon to embark on. I also spent time in RESTFUL worship with the LORD. I learned more about myself and who God CREATED me to be in that one week than I have in years.
If all that happened in just ONE week, how will my God change my life in the ELEVEN months I am on the World Race?
So here are a few takeaways from the sessions at training camp:
+ 3 Circles of Influence (Intimacy, Community, Missions)
+ Christianity is a vertical then horizontal relationship. We have to build that relationship up with God before we share it out with others.
+ If you are not listening to the Lord, you are missing out on the best adventures of your life.
+ It’s not about waiting for the Holy Spirit to tell you what to do, but asking the Holy Spirit for what you should do.
+ There is nothing my God cannot do… no pain, fear, or stronghold too big for my God.
+ Ezer Kenegdo (stay tuned for another blog about this little phrase)
+ We need to have a well worn path to the tree of life (God)… a path walked everyday. Only when it is well worn for us can we take others with us.
+ I cannot create my theology around my experience, but should understand my experiences based on my theology. If experience determines theology, it limits the power of God.
A few Words from God that week:
+ Bold
+ Grace (haha… Karis is the Greek word for grace)
+ Calm
+ Beautiful
+ Constant
Third, Prayers and Support:
I just want to say thanks to everyone who has supported my so far on this journey, both through prayers and financial support. I know there has been a lot of ups and downs so far with postponing the trip (twice), changes in countries (still don’t know where I’m going), and little information all around (still trusting God in every aspect) .
Thank you for still supporting me in all of it!
I ask now, would you prayerfully consider to continuing your support me?
Support through prayer (safety, Covid, my squad, my team, and me)
Support through finances (I’m currently 40% funded and leave in 2 month!)
Support through stories (Stories about God’s actions are the best way to show the power and love of God. Feel free to share my story and my squad mates’ stories with others!)
Thanks again! I greatly appreciate all you have done for me! Blessing to you, your friends, and you family!
Way to go!! Praying for you! ??
Can’t wait to see what 2021 holds for Expedition. Grateful you are joining us and look forward to this journey with you Karis! I’m praying for your provision and preparation!
Thankyou karis (grace) !!
i really really liked –
I cannot create my theology around my experience, but should understand my experiences based on my theology. If experience determines theology, it limits the power of God.
God’s character, person and truth are immutable and unchanging, but his means and methods are not. Yes, sometimes I define Christianity to people as, “A subjective experience based upon objective truth.” But how he chooses to work in my opinion has amazingly broad parameters. I like what Paul told the church at Corinth,
19-23 Even though I am free of the demands and expectations of everyone, I have voluntarily become a servant to any and all in order to reach a wide range of people: religious, nonreligious, meticulous moralists, loose-living immoralists, the defeated, the demoralized—whoever. I didn’t take on their way of life. I kept my bearings in Christ—but I entered their world and tried to experience things from their point of view. I’ve become just about every sort of servant there is in my attempts to lead those I meet into a God-saved life. I did all this because of the Message. I didn’t just want to talk about it; I wanted to be in on it!
Seems like “you want to be in on it.” Karis
Oh yeah, I appreciate your measured restraint on not divulging too much haha
